Project Masterclass in Promenois Summer 2015

In August 2015 twenty young musicians from Kosovo will be invited to attend a ten days master class for orchestra and chamber music at castle Promenois in Burgundy, France (see separate fact sheet with budget). The success and good experience with the first Masterclass with 16 young musicians from Kosovo in 2014 motivated us to plan for this second edition in 2015.

Ola Sentecki (violin), Oliwia Graboswska (piano), Lukas Raaflaub (cello), together with Pëllumb Vula (clarinet and conducting) will give individual master classes and lead the music workshops for ensembles and the orchestra. The project is organized and sponsored by Dorothea & Georg Fankhauser (up to € 10’000.- privately and through related swiss foundation Pirolo). Support from private and institutional sponsors is searched for during the second quarter 2015.

Emphasis will be on violin, piano and cello as solo instruments and the work in the orchestra and ensembles on a mixed program with pieces from various composers of different origins and periods. The result of this work will be presented in two public concerts in the city hall of Arnay-le-Duc, the nearby town in Burgundy and in Promenois castle. The same concert program will later be presented in Kosovo, for sure Gjakova and other places to be defined.

In addition the musicians from Kosovo will work on their repertoire of Kosovar and Albanian songs and folk music and will enchant the public audience of Arnay-le-Duc on two occasions. In 2014 inhabitants and the mayor of this town were so seduced and touched by the music and positive energy of these young people, that they were spontiously invited for an official diner. For 2015 the mayor repeated this invitation and also local initiatives to promoting culture in the province are looking forward to host them for a concert followed by a dinner invitation. The young musicians to attend were selected out of the most talented, hardworking and highly motivated and cooperative pupils, students and teachers from the music school of Gjakova and the Academy in Pristina with a focus on strings and piano for this time. During the voyage, their stay and the free time for sightseeing, the young people will also learn about French history and cultural heritage and experience and enjoy French quality of life and the pure and peaceful beauty of the countryside of Burgundy.

This project combines music enthusiasts and professionals from Basel, Switzerland, young high potential musicians from Kosovo who earned and deserve this support and international input for their career, and the special environment of château de Promenois, a private hideaway and retreat for music and cultural activities since 1988.

Everybody is looking forward to be part of and realise this project.

Based on our manifold positive experience with the young musicians involved in the context of our continuous support of music projects and institutions in Kosovo, we can stand for good implementation of this project, transparent financing and efficient use of all means including a good deal of goodwill and benevolent work of our friends and partners in Switzerland, Kosovo and France (see separate fact sheet with budget).

We hope we have attracted your attention and goodwill and would be very thankful for your financial support of this project according to your possibilities.
