It was the first project in the field of medicine realized in cooperation with the Hospital of Gjakova in the department of Physiatry for nurses, physiatrists and physiotherapists.

Jenny Seth, dipl. in physiotherapy with additional competences in Shiatsu, Tibetan and other massage technics was asked to give, assisted by Raphaela Hasler, a special training to at the hospital. The course was free of charge for the participants and the director of the hospital, Dr. Haxhi Kamberi offered the facilities and lunches during the three days. Other expenses were taken care of by the trainers and organizers. The participants showed a lot of interest and the course, after a necessary warm-up phase, went on in a warm, cordial atmosphere and in mutual trust. Soon everybody invested himself in an intensive working process. As time was obviously very short for such a large topic, focus was given on foot massage and applications of warm oil. Participants work in small groups, each changing its role the patient experiencing the effects to the approach to the role of the therapist applying what they just learned. At the end enthusiasm, relaxed harmony and satisfaction was visible in the faces of the participants. When the written confirmations for attending the course were distributed many expressed the wish to continue with additional courses in the future. Dr. Dashurjie Koshi and Dr. Mirlinda Byci Lila declared their wish and will to organize such courses in a continued cooperation, next time may be also with a focus on assisting women in giving birth.

For sure Jenny and Raphaela are looking forward to come back again to Gjakova. This project was a short, intense, effective and joyful start of a cooperation to the benefit hopefully at last for many patience. This project is a low-key and hands-on example of what the recently created NGO GjakovaBasel intends to stimulate and support.
